Common questions

FAQ for automotive / fleet pros.

What impact do I need for lug nuts?+

A 1/2" mid-torque cordless impact (Milwaukee 2767-20 at 1,000 ft-lb or DeWalt DCF892 at 700 ft-lb) handles every passenger vehicle and most 1-ton pickups. For semi-truck work, step up to a 1" drive.

M12 or 20V MAX for a cordless ratchet?+

M12 FUEL (2558-20 3/8" or 2557-20 1/4") has the most proven track record. The DeWalt DCF500 is a solid alternative if you're already on 20V MAX. Avoid brushed ratchets if you use one daily.

Do I need a scan tool?+

For fleet work, yes. The Autel MX808 and Launch X431 both cover most OBD-II systems. OEM-brand scan tools (GM MDI2, Ford VCMII) are required for some dealer-level work.
